I saw this chap one evening whilst looking for the local barn owl. I was stood by the gate of a small field that had been recently mown and baled for hay. I saw the fox across the back of the field a couple of times, before making its way forward. The fox was half-way down the field before it saw me. At which point it sat down and stared at me. It soon became clear that fox wanted to get through the gate I was stood by, and was quite prepared to wait me out rather than detour. We watched each other for a while, the fox having the occasional stretch or fidget. After about 20 minutes, with the light failing fast, I moved off and watched from distance as the fox went through the gate and across the road to the fields beyond.

Poppies
There are poppies in the usual field near Burwash Manor. Not exactly a carpet of red, but better than last year.

Strawberry Fair - Performers
Last Saturday was the 50th anniversary Strawberry Fair. Although the weather was rather cold and grey, it didn't seem to put anyone off having a good time. The crowd built steadily from the early afternoon. There was the usual eclectic range of performers that give the fair its character, from the old blues men and country acts on the Flying Pig stage to some much more lively acts on the Shady Nasty stage.

Lyveden In Bloom
A few images from a breezy bank holiday Monday at Lyveden. The meadows were in full bloom and looking much better than last year. As well as the abundance of Oxeye daisies, there were plenty of buttercups and a few orchids.
