Strawberry Fair - Performers

Last Saturday was the 50th anniversary Strawberry Fair.  Although the weather was rather cold and grey, it didn't seem to put anyone off having a good time.  The crowd built steadily from the early afternoon.  There was the usual eclectic range of performers that give the fair its character, from the old blues men and country acts on the Flying Pig stage to some much more lively acts on the Shady Nasty stage.

Strawberry Fair 2023

A selection of images from last Saturday's Strawberry Fair.   As seems standard for Strawberry Fair, the weather was great.  I managed to find a number of interesting individuals amongst the bands, but less so in the crowds.

Strawberry Fair

We interrupt tales from Dundee with a musical interlude.  After a 2-year Covid break, Strawberry Fair returned last Saturday.  People were clearly in the mood for a good time and the site was busy right from the opening.  As usual the bands improved as they day went on and I saw a couple I really enjoyed before I left in the early evening.  I also loved the aerial performances from the Cambridge Community Circus.

Strawberry Fair - Performers

At the start of the month, when is was sunny and hot, I spent over 6 hours at Strawberry Fair photographing the acts and the audience.  I shot over a thousand frames and have spent the last 2 weeks whittling them down to two blog posts.  This first one concentrates on the performers..

Strawberry Fair

Last Saturday, I spent an enjoyable sunny afternoon at Strawberry Fair in Cambridge.  There were some great characters on display, both on stage and off.

As an experiment, I tried some double exposure shots of the crowd throwing shapes in the club tent.  The results are somewhat jumbled, but give a better idea of the mood and atmosphere, than straight shots ever could.
