Two from Saturday

Two pictures that sum up my Saturday.

The first from Cambridge Camera Club's annual print competition. This took up most of my day, since I was involved in organising it.



The second from Hayley Wood, where I stopped off for an hour on my way home.

Easter, Ireland, Boats

I was over in Ireland for Easter, for a long overdue visit to friends. The weather was largely good and we were able to indulge one of my favourite activities, strolling along the coastline seeing the sights. Dun Laoghaire is a new favourite spot to go and watch the sailing, and was responsible for the first 2 images. A beautiful Easter morning on Bray sea front got the third.

Crocuses at Trinity

The crocuses are in bloom at the back of Trinity College and are looking superb. These pictures were taken on Saturday.

Snowdrops at Anglesey Abbey

These were all taken about 3 weeks ago at Anglesey Abbey. But, I was still seeing snowdrops in Cambridge this weekend.

One From The Lake District

Another day, another mono shot, more snow, but a different location. I was up in the Lake District last weekend, picking up a few more hills. I took this shot from the summit of Dove Crag. I was drawn by the curve of the stone wall.

A few more from Scotland

A few more shots from my recent trip up north. Starting with the approach to Coire na Tulaich on Buachaille Etive Mor, a notorious route in winter and much steeper than it looks in this picture.

One of my favourites is the above view of Bidean nam Bian from Stob Coire nan Lochan.


Above is the Devil's ridge leading to Sgurr a’ Mhàim. This hill is top of my 'unfinished business' list, since I failed to top it a couple of years ago. Sadly the closest I got this trip was the top of Stob Ban.

Winter Hillwalking - Scotland

A couple of weeks ago I was up in Scotland, on a winter hillwalking skills course that run by Rob Johnson. The weather was fantastic, better than there was any right to expect in February in Scotland and we took on several challenging hills in Glen Coe and the Nevis Range. Being primarily a taught and guided walking holiday there wasn't too much time for photography. Still I took the 40D out on a few of the days and managed to get some shots I am pleased with.

We encountered a couple of ice climbers on Stob Coire nan Lochan and had enough time to stop and watch them complete their final pitch.
