A subject I was quite keen to shoot this year are Snake's Head Fritillaries. A little bit of internet research led me to Portholme Meadow in Godmanchester. A quick after-work mid-week scouting mission located a small patch of fritillaries, including several white ones. Sadly, between then and my return early Saturday morning, about three-quarters of them went passed their best. But, there were still a few prime examples remaining. This was my first time photographing this challenging subject, and it's clearly one I will need to return to next spring.

Camera Club Outing to Waresley Wood
Last Sunday, I joined others from the CCC at Waresley Wood for a morning of flower photography. Conditions were near perfect for macro work, brightly overcast and no wind. As well as the abundant bluebells, there were still some Oxslips showing.

Spring Flowers at Brampton Wood
I spent Saturday morning at Brampton would shooting the spring flowers. The bluebells are at their best and are looking fantastic. But there are also many primroses still remaining, from a particularly prolific showing this year, as well as wood anemones, dog violets and others.

Albert Dock
Last weekend, I took another trip up to visit my friend Vic. On the Friday we visited the Albert Dock in Liverpool. The plan had been to spend a couple hours before going on to Formby Woods and Crosby Beach. But the light was poor, so we dropped the latter two locations and settled for a good lunch and a longer stay at the dock. We spent quite a while inside the Museum of Liverpool, concentrating on the wonderful staircase.
The 'love lock' craze seems to have reached Liverpool.

Pasque Flowers
I only managed one photo outing over Easter. Having seen on Ann's blog that the Pasque flowers were out at Therfield Heath, I took a trip there on Easter Monday. The numbers of flowers varies greatly from year to year. This year wasn't up to the record breaking standard of 2013, but was still fairly good. As usual the breeze was an issue for decent macro shots.

Fairground Lights
I am a little behind in my blog posts. A couple of weeks ago was the Mid-Lent Fair in Stamford. This year, for the first time in a few years, the riverside meadow was dry enough to be used. This meant there were a few more (and bigger) rides. I spent my time on these, but struggled to find decent angles. Getting a full circle on the Airmaxx proved to be a real challenge.

Bits of buildings
I spent a recent Saturday in London. Frankly, it wasn't a very successful trip, photographically. However, I did manage to get a few architectural shots.
