Therfield Heath

I usually only go to Therfield Heath for the Pasque Flowers.  This time I decided to take my infrared camera for a stroll there, on a sunny day, to see what I could find.  It turned out the answer was not much.

 More minimal depth of field close-ups.  This time primroses. All taken hand-held on a sunny and slightly breezy day.

Hipstamatic Pinhole

Pinhole photography is a current CCC theme.  Whilst on a stroll around St Neots I decided to see what the iPhone app, Hipstamatic, could offer by way of a pinhole mimicking 'lens'.  The results aren't very pinhole like, but it is an interesting effect.

Snow Drops in St Neots

There is a small patch of snowdrops in the churchyard of Eaton Socon church.  Not huge, but enough for a few close-up shots.  All shots were hand held.  A couple were focus-stacked, the rest were single shots at a wide aperture.

Fields of Snow

Last Sunday, we finally got some snow.  It didn't start snowing until 12.00pm, but by 1.00pm there was a good covering.  So, I pulled on the winter hill gear, grabbed the Olympus and headed out over the fields. I only had a few hours of daylight left.  Luckily, a year of walking these fields meant that I knew exactly where I wanted to go and how to get there with the paths no longer visible.  It kept snowing lightly all afternoon and keeping the lens clean of snow was a constant problem.  I had to delete more than half the images I took because of snow spots.  However, I did get some shots I am very pleased with.

 

Frozen Flowers

There has been a camera club project for January on the theme of 'frozen'.  One suggestion was taking photos of frozen flowers.  I gave this a go during Lockdown 1, but didn't post the images back then as I wasn't that happy with them.  But, for the sake of club spirit, and because the blog has been a little sparse lately, here are some of the better ones.  I do plan give this another go sometime soon.  Hopefully next time I can get less bubbles in the ice.
