Not long after shooting the ivy in Cambridge, I spent an afternoon in Waresley Wood in search of fungi. There had been quite a bit of rain in the proceeding weeks, so I thought there would be lots. I was wrong. I found a few little black things (Dead Man's Fingers) and a several little white things (Fairy Inkcap) and nothing else.
Autumn seems to off to a slow start. Thank heavens for the Boston Ivy which is showing its autumn glory.
Catch-up processing of some images I took a while ago, at the Hampton Court Food Festival. The ticket price also included access to the palace. I have previously visited the grounds a few times, but this was my first time inside. All images are hand-held 3 shot HDRs.
Last Saturday the was a living history fair in St Neots, organised by St Neots Museum. There were a dozen or so stalls with reenactors covering periods from the Vikings to the Edwardians. Reenactors are always great value for a photographer. They are very willing to pose, to show off the costumes that they have put so much time and money into. The only difficulty is finding a sympathetic background. Not too hard at an historic dockyard or steam railway, but much trickier in the middle of a busy St Neots Market Square. So I gave up trying for clean shots of whole people and instead concentrated on hands and costume details.
I recently joined other CCC members for an outing to Madingley Hall. It was good to see some people I hadn't seen, except on a Zoom screen, for 18 months, but the weather was not that kind. The morning started dull and grey and turned to rain after a couple of hours. There was enough time to explore a little and get some shots with my IR camera.
After Shoreditch, we moved on to the the City. It had been dull and grey for most of the day, but finally the clouds started to clear and we had some nice light.
I recently had my first photography trip into London since the start of the pandemic. It was a fun trip with a couple of pals and a couple of beers. We started at Kings Cross, where I didn't get anything useful, before moving on to Shoreditch.
