Boats at Wells-Next-The-Sea

A few images from a recent day out at Wells-Next-The-Sea. The tide was out most of the time I was there, allowing me to get close to the various boats in the estuary.

Abbey-Horizons Portfolio

Tonight was the monthly meeting of the Abbey-Horizons group. We looked at the images from our recent outing in Cambridge. The challenge had been to present a panel of 5 images taken along the river. The light that night had been lovely and there were some fanatastic images on display from all who attended.

The subject of my panel was recessional pattern pictures. I have presented the 5 images in order of personal preference. As is often the case with these panels, it is the 5th image that is the problem. I don't think it really works with the others. I just needed a little more time on the night to find something better. Still, in a couple of weeks I get to try again with the next outing.

Elephant Parade - Revisited

One of the (several) reasons that I have been a bit quiet on the blog front recently is that I have been working on the images from my Elephant Parade project. The parade itself finished at the end of June. I didn't manage to photograph all of the 258 elephants, but I did shoot a lot of them. After an extensive reviewing and selecting phase, I am left with over 250 images to put through some post production. The eventual aim is to make a photo book out of them. It might take a while though.

Another Abbey-Horizons Photo Challenge

A few weeks ago (yes it's been that long since I last posted) I was out for an evening's photography in Cambridge with others of the Abbey-Horizons group (the photo group that sounds like a savings account). It was one of our regular summer photo assignment challenges. This time the brief was fairly open. A panel of 5 images on a theme shot in the vicinity of the river.

Despite the open theme it was still hard coming up with 5 images that worked together. I worked on several ideas, to varying degrees of success. I will save what (vaguely) worked, until after the next Abbey meeting. But here is one that didn't.

The idea was signs along the river. It was one of my stronger ideas, but I only managed 3 images that worked.
