Last weekend I made a trip to the WWT centre at Welney. The site was still heavily flooded from all the recent rains and only the main hide was open. The weather was fairly good on my visit. Patchy sunshine gave occasional periods of lovely golden light, as the afternoon passed, but a stiff breeze made the water quite choppy. Sadly also, as a result of the very high water, many of the Whooper swans were roosting on the outlying fields, with few returning to the in the main lake. Most of those that did return did so after the sun had set.
